So I bought Chess Master for the PS2 a few months ago. I've played it off and on since then. My rating is about 620 or something on it. So I've been playing an opponent that is rated close to 800 and man, I'm getting my butt stomped.
I know there are other chess games out there, but Chess Master seems like a very good program for folks starting out with chess. It has hundreds of great tutorials and lessons that can really help improve your game (I really should start using them).
You can get Chess Master on the various platforms (PC is pretty good too).
Overall its a fun game … and the computer even tells you in a nice firm tone that no, you can't move your king there because that would put you in check by the Bishup (makes you feel sooo stupid)
